Chimi is a showroom for authentic handmade Colombian arts and crafts, located in the north of Bogota.
The goal was to convert an abandoned neocolonial house into an open, bright and eclectic space to showcase their unique products. All walls were removed from the original footprint and a new staircase was placed in the middle of the room, redefining the character of the house to best display any and all kinds of product. We hung a metal grid from the ceiling for maximum flexibility of display and introduced oversized, colorful windows which gave the showroom a transparent and lively character, installed a large-scale moveable wooden structure along the façade to help shade the interior.
